I am writing to introduce the new principal of the 16th St. campus of Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy PCS. It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that Dr. Veonca Richardson has joined our school community and will share in the pursuit of academic excellence at our IB World school on the 16th St. campus.
Allow me to share a bit about Dr. Richardson’s educational background and experience. She holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from George Washington University. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the relationship between principal leadership style and the maturity of school staff as professional learning communities. Before joining Mary McLeod Bethune, Dr. Richardson held leadership positions, as an elementary and middle school principal, teacher, and professional school counselor in various educational settings and school districts including DC Public Schools, Baltimore City Public Schools, Prince Georges County, and PreK - grade 8 independent schools.
At Mary McLeod Bethune, Dr. Richardson joins us in our commitment to providing a nurturing and rigorous academic environment for our students. I am thrilled to share that our school offers a bilingual Spanish immersion program, which will allow your children to become fluent in both English and Spanish. In addition, our academic program includes a wide range of subjects such as environmental science, STEM, Latin, art, music, health, and physical education. We believe in providing a well-rounded education that fosters the development of the whole child.
Furthermore, we offer a variety of after-school activities to further enrich your child's learning experience. These activities provide opportunities for exploration and growth in areas such as sports, arts, and leadership development.
